Maritsa Kissamitaki is a Greek artist with British heritage, working with light-based sculpture to explore the language of form, presence, and perception.
Rooted in an early fascination with spiraling forms found in nature and ancient patterns, her practice has evolved into a contemplative study of the spiral as both a symbolic and structural force.
Suspended between the organic and the abstract, her works resist categorization. They suggest sentient beings—without faces or limbs—formed through an intuitive process rather than fixed narrative. Her sculptural language is deeply material and fluid, unfolding through reed and paper. Light is not simply a medium but an activating presence: a breath, a pulse, a way of inviting stillness into an overstimulated world.
After professional experience in design, scientific communication, and technology prototyping across the UK and United Arab Emirates, Maritsa now works independently from her studio in the Barcelona region.
